Growing for Lose
Growth often begins with learning what to keep, and what to let go.

Growing for Lose is an exhibition series centred on loss. It approaches loss not only as something that happens to us, but also as a site of judgement, choice, and self-revision.

Growth is often understood as a process of accumulation: more knowledge, more experience, more clarity, a more complete sense of self. But what shapes us is not only what we gain. Just as often, growth takes place through what we release — inherited assumptions, borrowed identities, familiar frameworks, and ways of living that once offered stability but no longer allow us to change.

In this sense, loss is not only an ending. It can also mark the beginning of discernment: the moment we begin
to recognise what is truly ours, what has merely been carried, and what no longer needs to remain.

Each edition of Growing for Lose focuses on a particular form of loss. Through exhibitions, archives, unfinished works, interrupted projects, and practices that return after time, the series reflects on those moments that alter us most deeply: when something falls away, loses its hold, or is consciously left behind.

This is not a project that seeks to resolve loss or turn it too quickly into meaning. Instead, Growing for Lose creates space for unfinished, interrupted, and overlooked experiences to be re-seen, re-named, and re-understood.

Bottom Line

Not all growth comes from gaining more. Some begins with learning what to release.
